Robert Karl, DO, MPH, MBA is a practicing physician with multiple board certifications. He served in the U.S. Army and retired at the rank of major after twelve years of service and multiple deployments. He cared for the underserved populations of Philadelphia, PA during the COVID pandemic and has also fought Ebola and Zika epidemics. Dr. Karl has served his community as a firefighter, EMT, and police officer. Dr. Karl is also an illustrator and woodworker who holds a degree in fine art.
Dr. Karl’s Tonic & Light is his first foray into children’s books. Dr. Karl has authored short stories, adult novellas, and written in various forms on medical topics. He enjoys the challenge of presenting entertaining reading while also offering deeper meaning and inspiring curiosity.
Dr. Karl lives outside of Washington, DC with his wife of ten years and two children. His daughter is autistic and her unique mind served as inspiration for many of the works in Dr. Karl’s Tonic & Light.
